Operation Fast Break
Is an intensive 8-wk. computer-assisted
accelerated learning/work preparation module for individuals, ages
18 and older. The intent of the program is to increase and strenghten
particpants' literacy and academic skills. Those who complete the
program are prepared for either entry-level employment or entry into
post-secondary education. Participants learn basic computer functions
and skills such as word processing, office presentations and spreadsheets.
They also learn workplace etiquette, habits and attitudes. Participants
gain the necessary skills and knowledge to compete and be successful
in today's workforce.
Employers of Operation Fast Break graduates will
be getting employees who possess certified math and reading skills,
who are punctual, who have survived in a professional environment
under strict scrutiny, and who are drug-free. In addition, students
who graduate from the program have shown that they can learn on
their own and work effectively as members of a team.
GED/ABE Preparation/Literacy Skills Enhancement Program
This GED Preparation program is an alternative to the traditional
GED program. The intent of the program is to prepare particpants
to take and successfully pass the GED exam. The curriculum is
designed to help particpants improve their basic literacy and
workplace skills through the use of technology. It allows for
the development and demostration of a performance-based Adult
Education/GED preparation program design that accelerates learning
rates and is offered in an open entry-open exit format. A combination
of instructionaal techniques designed to match the learning styles,
interests of adult learners and engage participants in intensive
learning situations is utilized. Upon passing the GED exam, participants
are prepared to pursue personal goals.
Student’s goals may be postsecondary
education enrollment, personal achievement
of a G.E.D.,
employment in a job, or advancement to a better job. Work Keys
standardized assessment tests are used to measure program outcomes
as they relate to determining participant progress toward achieving
the established goals in an individual learning plan.
Computer
Repair Training/A+ Certification Program
Prepares
participants for work as computer repair technicians. The training
program covers 320 hours of hands-on repair work combined
with computer based tutorials and lab time over a 16-week
period. The training is also designed to prepare the participants
to take and pass the A+ Certification exams. As a program incentive,
participants build their own state-of-the-art computer
which is theirs to keep upon completion of the program. Participants
earn a Computer Repair Competency Certificate upon
program completion.
The Computer Repair program is the first
step for individuals seeking to advance in the technology job
market. Individuals with computer repair knowledge and A+ Certification
can expect to find employment as a technical support representative
or repair technician in the growing technology job market.
Direct Care/Assisted
Living Worker Job Opportunity Program
The
Direct Care/Assisted Living Worker Job Opportunity Program is
a certificate program designed to prepare the participant to
care for individuals in the following settings: Assisted Living,
Private Home, and Group Home. Upon successful completion of
this intensive 180-hour program, each participant will be Direct
Care Worker Certified, Adult CPR & First Aid Certified,
and will have completed 60 hours of Assisted Living Training.
Work Keys Service Center
Provides
a job analysis profile, skill assessment, and instruction
services with eight assessments. The
Work
Keys System works with employers to determine the skill
requirements of jobs, to determine the current skills of
employees, and to help educators/trainers as they assist
learners in improving their skills. |
