In
2002 MCC received a grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation
to continue its exploration of workforce issues in the I-75 /
I-69 corridor region. The funds allowed MCC to continue development
of the Regional Workforce Development Consortium and expand its
membership. The consortium, established under MCC leadership
in 1998, brings together education, government and business representatives
from Genesee, Oakland, Shiawassee, Lapeer, St. Clair, and Livingston
Counties.
Since the awarding of the grant, Huron, Macomb, Sanilac and Tuscola Counties
have been added.
The goal of the Consortium is to explore workforce issues in the region, and
to provide resources and potential solutions that intervene and connect the
skills in the workforce with skills that regional employers need.
This project made possible by a grant from
the C.S. Mott Foundation.
