To strengthen the Regional
Workforce Development Consortium efforts and close the
skills gap between business, industry and worker needs in the
areas of Information Technology, Manufacturing and Health in
Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac,
Shiawassee, St. Clair and Tuscola Counties.
To explore workforce issues in the region,
and to provide resources and potential solutions that intervene
and connect the skills in the workforce with skills that regional
employers need.
Expected outcomes
Development of:
Common tools and systems for assessing skill gaps
Shared learning in new curriculum that meets business, industry
and worker needs
Shared understandings of how the unemployed and under-employed
can access needed skills and the jobs available
Information sharing systems
New regional issues identified and lessons learned highlighted
