- What is MCC's school code?
- Mott Community College's Title IV school
code is 002261.
- Do I have to be admitted to MCC to apply
for financial aid?
- No. However, you cannot be awarded financial
aid until you have completed the admission process.
- How will I get my award(s)?
- You
will receive an award notification from the college once your
award eligibility has been determined.
Student loan recipients will
be notified by postcard once their loan has been processed. Scholarship
recipients will typically be notified by letter depending on the
scholarship source.
- What happens to excess money from my awards?
- Depending on the type of award, you may be
eligible to receive money
in excess of tuition and book purchases. Typically, excess monies
are released after the refund period for the semester has ended
and attendance verified, which is typically six weeks into the
semester.
- What happens if I drop classes?
- If you drop prior
to the end of the semester refund period (see semester schedule for dates), it will not affect
your aid eligibility. Your aid may be adjusted to actual credit
hours of enrollment, depending on the aid source.
- If you drop after
the refund period,
it could affect your aid eligibility. Your aid may be adjusted
or you may have charges incurred.
- Any drop after the
refund period could affect
future loan consideration since your academic history is reviewed.
- Note: Second
8-week or Fall2/Winter2 drops may result in aid recalculation
and you may owe.
- If you are withdrawing
from all your classes,
you are encouraged to see Counseling and Advising.
- Check with Student Financial Services to determine
if any drop will affect your future financial aid eligibility.
- What does verification mean?
- Verification is the process whereby a student
must document information reported on their FAFSA to Student Financial
Services. The Federal Processor randomly selects 30% of all
applications for the verification process. However, Student Financial
Services may request verification on any student applicant, at its discretion.
- Do I have to include parental information?
- Dependent students must include parental information (including their signature) on the FAFSA
application. Dependency status is determined by Step 3 on the FAFSA
application. If you answer 'No' to all questions in Step 3, then you will need to include your parents information (including their signature) on your FAFSA
application. If you answer ‘Yes’ to any one of the questions in Step 3, you are considered an independent student . No parent information is needed on independent students FAFSA applications
