Scholarships are educational funds offered by a college, an organization, business, employer or an individual, and generally do not need to be repaid. Through the diligent efforts of the Foundation for Mott Community College, over $450,000 in scholarship funding is offered annually to MCC students.

Scholarship Application
To be considered for a MCC scholarship applicants are requested to submit an online application by completing the following steps:

  • Access the online application at https://mcc.starsscholarshipsonline.com/stars
  • If you are a first time user, please select the " Start Here" button to create a username and password. Students who have created an account, can login by using their username and password.
  • During the application process, students can select “save and exit” at any time. The information can later be retrieved for scholarship application completion and editing.
  • The online scholarship application is a six (6) step process. Based on the information provided by the student, the recommended scholarships will be displayed and available for the student to apply.
  • Many scholarships require additional documentation: transcripts from other institutions, essays, letters of recommendation, tax returns, medical information etc. If required, options for uploading the proper documents will be provided when applying for a specific scholarship.
  • Students are responsible for the information submitted on the scholarship application.

Scholarship searches should begin as early as nine months prior to the beginning of the semester of intent. Some popular scholarship search sites are:

Please keep in mind that scholarships should not cost you money to receive them. When you receive information regarding scholarship funding, beware of the following statements:

  • The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back.
  • You can’t get this information anywhere else.
  • Requests for credit card or bank account number information.
  • The scholarship will cost some money.
  • “You’re a finalist” in a contest you never entered or you’ve been selected by a national foundation.

Many four-year universities offer transfer scholarships to students with high academic achievement and two years of study at a community college.
