Friends of the Mott Library - Author Visit
Paddling Across Michigan and Wisconsin
The Friends of the Mott Library sponsored a Michigan author visit on Tuesday, October 18. Doc Fletcher, an avid paddler, shared beautiful photos and entertaining stories about canoeing and kayaking in Michigan and Wisconsin rivers. Doc sold signed copies of his books and gave away free canoe or kayak trips to two lucky attendees. The event was attended by 47 campus and community members.
Good Works:
The Friends continue to do “good works” for the Mott Library. They help meet the needs of the students at Mott Community College. An opportunity to share a love of libraries reflects in the commitment of the Friends of the Mott Library. Many items have been purchased using funds from the Friends. These include detection systems, artwork, leased book collection, preservation materials for archives, and much more.
The Friends of the Mott Library honor MCC retirees by purchasing a book for the library collection. College retirees are asked to select a book that has special meaning or interest to them. This benefits the students of MCC by adding to the library collection. The Friends present these books to the Library at the Employee Appreciation Reception in the Spring
Peggy Brown Can-Do Collection:
Friends have funded this collection in honor of the “Can Do” attitude of Peggy Brown, former MCC secretary. Originally, this collection supported the professional development and interests of secretaries, but has grown to include a broader scope of materials that are of interest to a cross section of MCC employees and students as well.
