Any student enrolled in at least 6 credits
at MCC with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is eligible
to be a member of Student Government. To become a MCC Student
Senator, complete a Student
Senator Application and submit the completed form to
the Student Life Office (PCC 100) or one of the Student
Government Advisors. To be recognized and sworn in as
a Full voting Senator the “Senator Aspirant” must
attend any combination of 3 Student Government Meetings, Executive Board
meetings or Student Government Planning sessions. The “Senator
Aspirant” will be recognized and sworn in as a “Vested Senator” with
full voting rights and privileges at the next available Student Government Meeting.
Why should I become a Student Senator?
Student Senators can:
be a voice of particular student groups such as part-time students
participate in committees which effect the college life of
students
receive college scholarships
enhance their leadership capabilities.
What does the Student Government do?
The Student Government recommends recognition of student clubs and organizations
and approves special projects. It also arranges for speakers and activities,
and considers problems presented by their fellow students.
Members, known as Student Senators, serve on the College
Professional Study Committee, the Student/Faculty Judicial Board and other
college committees.
When: Student Government meetings are held the first
and third Friday of each month.
When: Meeting will start at 1:00 pm
Where: In the Student Life Center located in the Prahl College
Center on Main Campus.
