College
Level Examination Program (CLEP)
The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is developed by the
College Board and measures college-level knowledge in five basic
areas of the liberal arts: English composition,
humanities, mathematics, social science and history, and natural science.
MCC students may be awarded appropriate college credits for college
level course work if they successfully complete one or more CLEP
examinations. A limit of 16 credits may
be awarded
for CLEP examinations. Credits will
be determined by MCC
officials.
CLEP Exams are conducted by appointment only.
Each exam takes 90 minutes and costs between
$65 and $75 plus a $15 administrative fee, effective July 1, 2007. Registration
and payment takes place the day of testing. Most CLEP testing is
conducted via computer.
Students can prepare for these exams using study guides available
for purchase from the College Board.
All CLEP exams will have a standard credit granting score of 50.
