Mott Community College uses the placement assessment software ACCUPLACER. At MCC, the computerized placement test results are used along with other information to recommend the most appropriate beginning course levels for students. Students may also be eligible for
additional testing which could provide college credit or allow “testing
out” of some MCC General Education Requirements.

Most new students will be required

MCC also offers a Writing
Placement Test.This test is provided by appointment and there is a fee. Successful completion allows "testing out" of Engl-101 English Composition I. Ask your counselor or advisor about your eligibility.

What are these tests?
This is not a college entrance examination

Begin testing after you submit an application
to MCC. If you are still in high school, you may want to take
the test when you are close to the end of your last semester.
How long does it take to complete these tests?
What do I need to bring to the testing?
Placement testing is not timed.
Testing usually takes 1½ to 2 hours to complete. No appointment
needed (at the main campus).
Bring your current photo ID (i.e., driver's
license, State ID, passport, high school ID…).
