The Mott Community College English 101 Writing Placement Test has been developed by the MCC English Department. Students who successfully complete this test may place into English 102 and would not need to take English 101.

Eligibility Requirements
A student must have a score of 24 or higher on the English (Verbal) portion of the ACT

Test Cost
There is a $25 test fee, payable by check or money order. Registration and payment are made on the day of the test.

Schedule a Test
The test is given by appointment only in the Prahl College Center, PCC2010. Call 810-762-0372 to make an appointment. All students are allotted up to three hours to complete the testing.

Skills Tested
Students must demonstrate the ability to

• use words, sentences and paragraphs properly to explain and support ideas and opinions
• spell correctly and use punctuation, grammar and diction properly

Test Scoring
The test is scored by the MCC English Reading Department Committee. Scoring may take up to four weeks.
