General Education Assessment Information

Mott Community College has three overarching general education areas: critical thinking, citizenship, and global awareness. Currently, MCC participates in three assessments to drive curriculum change and professional development. They are:

  • Community College Survey of Student Engagement/Community College Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE/CCFSSE): This is a national assessment administered biannually in odd-numbered winter semesters to assess student engagement in a number of areas including the three general education objectives
  • General Education Assessment (a locally prepared instrument): This assessment was created locally as a custom MCC Gen Ed assessment which tests how MCC students relate to the three general education objectives
  • Educational Testing Service’s Proficiency Profile (PP-formerly “MAPP”): This is a national assessment administered biannually in even-numbered winter semesters to assess student competence in the three objectives.
