Shawn Brown - Coach

Shawn Brown
This is Coach Brown’s 13th year at Mott. His first 11 years he worked as the assistant coach. This will be his second year as Head Coach. Shawn played baseball for Mott in 1994-96, earning All-Conference honors in 94. He was also the captain in 94 and lead in innings, strikeouts and wins. He was the last pitcher to throw a no-hitter for Mott against Highland Park in 1994.

Shawn graduated from Davison High School in 1993 where he was an All-conference pitcher and pitched for the team while at Saginaw Valley State University. Later he graduated from Mott with degrees in General Studies, Art, and Marketing and Management. During the off season he also instructs baseball camps at Michigan State University and Davison High School.

Shawn is very thankful to have played and coached with some of the best coaches over the years and has gained much knowledge from them. They include: Tim Rye (currently at Davison High School), John and Ernie Myers (Bear Coaches), Walt Head (SVSU), Dan Shelton (Clio, Mott, SVSU), Dan LaNoue (former Detroit Tiger and Mott Coach), Kevin Visser (Mott) and Roger Foutch (Coach of the Halo-Foutch Team).

Another passion of Shawn’s is hockey. In 1997, he was invited to play for the Saginaw Lumber Kings of the CHL, but opted to continue playing baseball and start his education at SVSU. During the year when Shawn is not coaching, he takes on multiple tasks at the college as a field manager of Kearsley Park, Fitness Center Tech, bus driver, facilities conservator of Mott sports memorabilia and does various PR work for the City of Flint.

Shawn became a newlywed and married Lanie in May of 2007.
