New Coach - Same Direction
The Mott Community College “Wrestling Bears” will be competing in their 13th season as eastern Michigan’s first NCWA collegiate program. Mott Community College looks to continue its battle for dominance in the Great Lakes Conference with NCWA powerhouse Grand Valley State University.
Mott Community College is pleased to announce that several administrative changes are being made to further promote the successful "Bears Wrestling" program. MCC Vice-President, Scott Jenkins, and Athletic Director, Tom Healey, have worked to put the wrestling program under the direction of the athletic department. The wrestling team, along with other future programs, will be categorized as extra-curricular athletics. This move allows for the hiring of a full-time coach, streamlines administrative procedures and ensures the future continuity of the program.
The team has produced three National Champions including one Most Outstanding Wrestler, nineteen All-Americans, coached a total of 63 National Qualifiers, designed a grant program entitled "Flint Youth Wrestling," and compiled a dual meet record of 93-24.
