The Culinary Arts Program

Mott Community College offers a superior educational experience in the art of cooking; we train mid-Michigan culinary professionals.
A culinary education is a fine art at MCC. We change your passion for food and cooking into a career, we training future chefs, foodservice managers, bakers, and restaurant managers with an emphasis on learning by doing. Our classes are small, averaging 11:1 student/teacher ratio and taught by certified chefs and managers.
The foodservice business is booming in mid-Michigan, and there are more diverse job opportunities than ever before in the hospitality fields.

Chefs at Applewood Cafe

The Applewood Café is a student-operated fine dining restaurant. It is staffed by students enrolled in the Food Management, Culinary Arts, and Baking & Pastry Arts Programs. The Applewood Café is located in the Prahl College Center on the main campus of Mott Community College.

Students enrolled in MCC programs will receive intensive training in all phases of the restaurant business, and will graduate with the high level of expertise necessary to become a professional in any area of the foodservice business.

In additional to practical experience in food preparation, students gain valuable management and customer service skills in our spacious, and beautiful Applewood Café. Many students participate in cooking contests, ice carving demonstrations, student clubs and cooperative education to gain additional skills.
