CNA Training
Prepare
for a career as a Certified Nurse’s
Assistant. CNA’s work in a variety of occupations
in the Health Care field including dietary, housekeeping, laundry,
transporter or nursing assistant. This program provides training
and preparation for state certification.

Program Highlights
- Participants begin with three weeks of Professional
Life Skills development training through Flint Area STRIVE.
Job readiness skills are focused upon.
- WorkKeys Skills Development assessments
will be provided for each participant through Baker College. Reading,
math, observation and locating skills will be assessed and upgrade
training will be provided if needed.
- The CNA Training is a 7.5 week, 90
hour program conducted by Mott Community College. Training includes
two, college credit classes: a 3 hour lecture twice per week and
a clinical/skill lab once per week for 8 hours at an extended care
facility.

Support services
- STRIVE will also provide two years of case
management to assist in sustained employment.
- F.A.C.E.D. Roads to Success program will
provide mentoring to
each graduate.
- An MCC instructor will be available
for tutoring during
the 7.5 week CNA courses for those students needing assistance.
- A refresher session will be offered
free of charge through the GASC Technology Center prior to setting
a date to take the State examination for certification.
- There
is also some assistance available for transportation
and childcare during training

How can I apply for the training program?
Once it has been determined that you live
in the Renewal Community you will be contacted by F.A.C.E.D. and invited
to an information session. To obtain more information about these sessions,
please call (810) 232-7733.

How long is the training and who will do the training?
Flint STRIVE (Flint
area Specialized Employment Services) will perform the three week Profession
and Life Skills development training. The training is held Monday through
Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for three weeks at the STRIVE office.
Each graduate of the training program will receive two years of case
management by STRIVE to
assist the participant in sustaining employment.
F.A.C.E.D. (Faith
Access to Community Economic Development) Roads to Success
program will provide mentoring to each graduate of the three
week training.
GASC Technology Center will
perform a refresher session for training participants to
brush-up on skills used during the State certification examination
prior to setting the date for the exam. For a training schedule
