| Colleges are not required to provide the
requested or preferred accommodation. They are required to
provide reasonable, appropriate, and effective accommodations
for disabilities that have been adequately documented and
for which procedures for requesting those accommodations
have been followed.
If the student with a disability feels
they have followed the above, and have a legitimate complaint
the first step is to speak with the Director of DisAbility
Services. An appointment can be made by calling (810)
762-0399. However, a complaint regarding disability accommodations
can also be filed with Mott Community College's ADA Compliance
Officer. To do this, contact the Human
Resource Department at (810) 762-0565.
If the complaint is not resolved the
student should file a formal complaint by submitting
a written complaint to the Director of DisAbility Services
and/or the ADA Compliance Officer in the Human Resources
Department. This complaint must include the reason for
the complaint, related dates, and the student's signature.
This document will be forwarded to the Executive Dean
of Student Services for resolution.
If the student is still not satisfied
and they have followed procedures listed above, a formal
complaint can be filed through the Office
of Civil Rights (OCR). Information for this process
can also be obtained from the Learning
Center/DisAbility Services or the Human Resources Department. |
