Services (MRS) may be able to help.
- The
Disability Network
The Disability Network is an advocacy organization
run by people with disabilities for people with disabilities. The
four core services they offer are: information and referral, advocacy,
peer support and independent living support.
- Genesee
County Community Mental Health
Offers comprehensive mental health services
to Genesee County residents of all ages. Fees for services are
based on ability to pay.

- The
Visually Impaired Center (VIC)
The Visually Impaired Center is a
private, non-profit agency that offers vision rehabilitation services
to residents of Genesee, Lapeer, and Shiawassee Counties who are
legally blind, have low vision, or are experiencing functional
or progressive vision loss.
- Communication
Access Center (CAC)
CAC provides services to deaf and hard
of hearing people. They provide professional sign language interpreters;
operates a Residential Services Program for developmentally disabled
and mentally ill deaf and hard of hearing adults and a Senior
Citizens Program to provide assistance to deaf and hard of hearing
older adults of Genesee and Shiawassee Counties.
- Self
Help for Hard of Hearing People (SHHH)
Self Help for the Hard of Hearing People
Inc., is a consumer; educational organization devoted to the
welfare and interests of those who cannot hear well, their relatives
and friends. As the voice for hard of hearing people, SHHH strives
to improve the quality of hard of hearing people's lives through
education, advocacy, and self-help.
- Northeast
Technical Assistance Center (NETAC)
Options for students who are deaf or hard
of hearing. They also have scholarship information for students
with other disabilities and under represented groups.
