Barnhill
Grant Development Specialist
Ms.
Cecile Barnhill is a Grant Development Specialist at Mott Community
College (MCC). Prior to being hired in April ’03, she served
as an Independent Grant Writer and proprietor of The Consulting,
Development & Business Services Group, where she primarily assisted
non-profit organizations in all phases of grant development and
proposal writing. Cecile launched her business two years prior to
coming on board at MCC after recognizing an increased need for this
service at the local organizational level within the Detroit community.
Cecile’s career spans over twenty years in the non-profit,
human services sector which included developing, managing and administering
programs that served 1) homeless teens, individuals and families;
2) children in the foster care and adoption systems; and 3) youth
in residential settings. During her work experiences, she gained
the skills of grant writing and development and has since utilized
her knowledge on the community college level. Cecile serves on several
Boards for community-based organizations and has been a proposal
reviewer for city, state and federal funding processes. She holds
a Masters degree in Public Administration, dual Bachelor degrees
in Criminal Justice and Political Science, and is a licensed Social
Worker and Certified Dispute Resolution Mediator.
