Motorcycle Safety Program

Amount: $66,422
Funding Period: 10/1/07 - 9/30/08
Mott Community College sponsors the Motorcycle Safety Program in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Traffic Safety and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation to enhance and improve motorcycle safety.
Motorcycle rider training programs have been
widely implemented to help reduce crash frequencies. A broader
educational approach, which provides motorcyclists with practical
information outside of a formal training setting, can also aid
both new and experienced riders. This a program of the Continuing
Education Department at MCC and is open to anyone who is 15 years
old or older and wants to learn to ride safely; as well as for
those who have failed the riding skills test twice and must take
this course to receive motorcycle endorsement. The Michigan Motorcycle
Rider and Safety Education Program offers a Basic Rider Course,
Performance Based Course, and Experienced Rider Course to enhance
the skills of beginner riders through advanced cyclists. Included
in this program is classroom and skills training to explain motorcycle-related
laws and to ensure the ability to operate a motorcycle safely.
There is a $25 non-refundable fee and all motorcycles are furnished
for the classes. |
