Information
on Over-the-Counter Medications
A recent IRS ruling has made certain over-the-counter
medications eligible under the FlexSave program. These medications
include:
- Allergy medications such as Claritin and Benadryl
- Antacids such as Tagamet, Zantac and Pepcid
AC
- Anti-diarrhea medications such as Imodium
A-D
- Arthritis pain products such as BenGay
- Cough, cold and flu products such as Nyquil,
Robitussin and PediaCare
- Eye lubricants such as Murine and Visine
- Hemorrhoidal suppositories and creams such
as Preparation H
- Laxatives such as Phillips’ Milk of
Magnesia
- Pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen
and acetaminophen
- Psoriasis products such as Dermarest
- Sinus medications such as Sudafed
- Sleep aids such as Sominex and Unisom
- Smoking cessation products
This change is retroactive to January 1, 2003.
This means that if you have receipts (dated on or after January
1) for any of these over-the-counter purchases, you can be reimbursed
by completing a Request for Reimbursement form and sending it,
along with your receipt, to:
