And you thought that Associate Degree would only get you a great job? How about an all-expenses paid trip? Now that you have reached your academic goal, let’s celebrate! Your TRiO-SSS Program will be taking up to 17 graduates on a four-day, all-expenses paid trip to Orlando, Florida in June! Sights include all four Walt Disney World parks, “La Nouba” presented by the theatrical group Cirque du Soleil, Universal Studios theme parks, and a show by Blue Man Group. Invitations and details will be sent to graduates separately by mail. PAGE 2 Where Have You Been? Our SSS Program and participants have been on several Cultural Enrichment Activities this past winter semester. Events include a Pistons Game in January, the Broadway musical “Hairspray” in February, and a tour of the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park; along with the Gerald R. Ford Museum in Grand Rapids in March. We’ve also toured the University of Michigan-Flint in April and had a blast at our Learning Center Luau. So, if you did not attend these events, we ask you, where have you been? Remember, all TRiO-SSS activities are FREE to participants! Check your monthly calendars for events. Keep your eyes open for an invitation to the TRiO-SSS Graduate and Academic Achievement Banquet! This year’s banquet will honor our graduates and those students who have earned a 3.0 or higher for the 06-07 school year. The banquet will be held Friday, May 4th at the Blue Collar Gourmet, formally known as Bonaparte’s, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. COORDINATOR CHAT Stop in on the designated days and earn 20 points! Don’t forget Coordinator Chat! Earn 20 points when you come in on a Chat day. Whenever you see this picture on the calendar, that’s a Chat day! TRiO-SSS will be traveling to the Detroit Science Center on Friday, May 18th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to view the “Our Body—The Universe Within” exhibit. The exhibit includes approximately 20 actual human bodies and 135 other anatomical displays. The exhibit allows the general public a look at what only doctors and scientists normally are allowed to see first-hand. RSVP REQUIRED! Limited seats available. Participation Points Redemption Days! Each Thursday in May is designated as a Participation Points Redemption Day. What does this mean? Come in and see your SSS Coordinators to redeem those points you’ve worked so hard to earn! Points can be redeemed for: Mini Staplers Lunch Bags Water Bottles Caps Calculators T-Shirts Travel Mugs Messenger Bags Bubble Clocks Fleece Blankets Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a limit of 3 reward items per student.
