The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is looking for faculty and staff interested in presenting a
session/workshop for their colleagues.
Mott Scholar:
Have you written an article for a professional journal, presented at a conference, been involved in a community project? Come share your expertise and experiences with your colleagues.
Brown Bag Professional Development Sessions:
Brown Bag Professional Development Sessions provide faculty and staff throughout the college a chance to reflect on the issues facing the college today and how to prepare to address these issues. Sessions can/might address (but are not limited to) student learning (teaching tips, course or assignment design, building community in classrooms, etc.), technology training, interpersonal communication, or ways to be more productive. Please volunteer to share any idea that might increase student learning or retention.
Reading Circles:
Do you have suggestions for a book that you think might provide insight into our work at a community college, that might provide personal enrichment, or that you think your colleagues just might find interesting? Would you be willing to lead a discussion of such a book over the course of a semester? Reading Circle Meetings will consist of four separate meetings (one per month) to discuss different aspects of the book.
Personal Enrichment:
If you have an interest that is not necessarily related directly to your teaching or your job title but that might be of interest to faculty and staff at MCC, here's your chance to share your creative endeavors. So far, we have done poetry readings, magic, political predictions, and ballroom dancing. What do you have to offer that is fun and entertaining?
Technology:
Help your colleagues get the most out of the many technology applications used at MCC by sharing your expertise and providing a “hands-on” training session. DATATEL, WIDS, BlackBoard and Excel are examples of frequently used MCC applications that have been training topics.
Webinar:
Do you want to see the CTL offer a training or workshop webinar that you think is particularly effective? A Webinar is a workshop or lecture delivered over the Web. Webinars may be a one-way Webcast, or there may be interaction between the audience and the presenters. Send the details to the CTL, and we'll do our best to compile a library of useful Webinars.
Special Event:
Extraordinary, unique, special focus — each of these words describe a “Special Event”. If you think of a person or program that would benefit the Faculty and Staff of MCC please submit that suggestion as a Special Event.
