Welcome to the Office of Professional Development and Experiential Learning

Through the Center for Teaching and Learning, MCC faculty and staff can access a variety of activities to add continuous learning to their professional lives. Programming in many formats is offered throughout the year.

Professional Development’s Monthly Course Offerings

Brown Bag

These Professional Development Sessions provide faculty and staff throughout the college a chance to reflect on the issues facing the college today and how to prepare to address these issues.
Sessions generally meet for one hour in the CTL – CM-1120.

MCC colleagues present their expertise and experiences. These are often recent articles for a professional journal, conference presentations, or community project involvement.

Reading Circles

 

Reading Circle Meetings will consist of four separate meetings (one per month) to discuss different aspects of a book suggested by an MCC colleague. Book selections might provide insight into our work at a community college, offer personal enrichment, or just expand your interests.
Reading Circles meet monthly (four sessions) for one hour in the CTL – CM-112.

These sessions are of general interest for faculty and staff at MCC, not necessarily related directly to your teaching or job title. Past subject have ranged from poetry to ballroom dancing to magic!.

Webinar

 

Participate in a lecture or workshop without the travel hassle. A Webinar is a workshop or lecture delivered over the Web. Webinars may be a one-way Webcast, or there may be interaction between the audience and the presenters.
Webinars are generally accessed in the CTL – CM-1120.

Technology

 

Training/discussions on computer software, hardware, applications, online courseware, and classroom tools, etc.
