Radiography (X-Ray Technology) training is done at Hurley Medical Center. MCC offers coursework to increase the chances for admission into the program. These courses do not lead to a degree.

 
 

Students seeking admission must have:

1.  High school disploma or G.E.D.

2.  High school transcript/college transcript of all coursework completed.

3.  The following courses from the list of General Requirements Courses listed below must be completed: 
PHSC 191 (prior to CHEM 118/CHEM 111, if possible)
CHEM 118 or CHEM 111

4.  All General Requirement Courses listed below must be passed with a 2.0 grade or better.  Students must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA to continue in the professional program.

PROGRAM ADMISSIONS:
Admission to the program is competitive, and successful applicants usually have two years of course preparation to complete at Hurley Medical Center.  The 24 month program begins each year at the end of August.  Students spend 40 hours (1st shift) per week in supervised academic and clinical work and rotate through diagnostic sections of the radiology department, plus the cardiac catherization lab, radiation therapy/oncology, nuclear medicine, ultrasound and computer tomography.  Required classes include radiation physics, medical terminology and radiographic position.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

1.  Deadline - April 1st.

2.  Students may apply when support coursework is completed.

3.  Health Occupation Aptitute Testing - Hurley Medical Center

4.  Health Physical.

5.  Personal interview with a hospital admissions committee.

6.  Approximately 20-30 applications are received annually.

7.  6 students selected per year.

8.  Tuition and book fee for two year course is approximately $3,500 (books may be extra).

UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM:
National Board Testing done during October, March and July.
