
Browser settings for WebAdvisor when using
Mozilla Firefox for PC
Enable Cookies
- By default, cookies are accepted in Mozilla Firefox. To check this setting go to
Tools >> Options >> Privacy >> Cookies >> "Accept cookies from sites" should have a check mark next to it.
Enable JavaScript
- Tools >> Options >> Content >> check the Enable JavaScript and Enable Java options >> OK.
Cache setting
- Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Network Tab >> Cache >> Clear Now button >> OK.
Clear cookies
- Tools >> Options >> Privacy >> Cookies >> Show Cookies button >> Select site "wa.mcc.edu" >> Remove Cookie button (Note: Selecting "Remove All Cookies" button will remove all cookies that appear in the list.) >> Close >> OK.
Pop-up blocker settings
- Tools >> Options >> Content >> Check the Block Pop-up Windows option >> Exceptions >> type mcc.edu >> Allow >> type wa.mcc.edu >> Allow >> Close >> OK.
- The firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2 provides additional security without interfering with the databases. Changing some of the browser settings, however, may be necessary. The firewall is part of the latest update, which is free to download from the Microsoft Windows Update Web site. (From the Windows Desktop: START >> Windows Update).
- Note that proprietary pop-up blockers from Google, Yahoo, and other downloadable toolbars may also interfere with your connection to the databases.
In that case, go to:
- View >> Toolbars >> uncheck the proprietary toolbars.
