The Office of Financial Aid determines student's eligibility for all College Work Study employment programs. The Federal Work Study (FWS) Program receives money from the federal government whereas the Michigan Work Study (MWS) Program receives funds from the state for work opportunities. The wages earned allow students to pay for their educational expenses. The program encourages community service work and employment related to the student's course of study. Students can work up to twenty five hours per week with a maximum of eight hours per day, depending upon the needs of the employer and their financial award. The work week begins Sunday and ends Saturday.
