Tornado Warning, Tornado Sighting, Severe Weather Warning

  • A series of three short rings means take cover, and do not leave the building. Follow the directions posted for Weather Emergency in the department.
  • The Public Safety dispatcher will contact personnel in all college areas.
  • When a "take cover" alarm is sounded, do not call the switchboard. The operator will be busy contacting people in other buildings as a backup to the safety personnel.
  • The all clear signal for the Curtice Mott Complex, Gorman and Ballenger Field House buildings is a series of long rings. Safety personnel and the switchboard will notify personnel in other buildings.

CLOSING THE COLLEGE DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
During inclement weather or in case of an emergency school closing the college will post a notice on the School Closing Hotline (810) 232-8989.

These other procedures are in place to notify facutly/staff and students of a school closing:

  • Local radio and TV stations will be alerted
  • An announcement will be posted to all faculty and staff voice mailboxes
  • When possible or the situation warrants it: a web site"highlight" will appear on the MCC homepage
  • College Info Channel will reflect an emergency school closing
  • Public Safety may announce the emergency over the intercom if possible in situations where the campus is closing after the start of a business day
