Sighting, Severe Weather Warning
- A series of three short rings means take cover,
and do not leave the building. Follow the directions posted for
Weather Emergency in the department.
- The Public Safety dispatcher will contact personnel
in all college areas.
- When a "take cover" alarm is sounded,
do not call the switchboard. The operator will be busy contacting
people in other buildings as a backup to the safety personnel.
- The all clear signal for the Curtice Mott Complex,
Gorman and Ballenger Field House buildings is a series of long
rings. Safety personnel and the switchboard will notify personnel
in other buildings.
CLOSING THE COLLEGE
DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
During inclement weather or in case
of an emergency school closing the college will post a notice on
the School Closing Hotline (810) 232-8989.
These other procedures are in place to notify facutly/staff
and students of a school closing:
- Local radio and TV stations will be alerted
- An announcement will be posted to all faculty
and staff voice mailboxes
- When possible or the situation warrants it:
a web site"highlight" will appear on the MCC homepage
- College Info Channel will reflect an emergency
school closing
- Public Safety may announce the emergency over
the intercom if possible in situations where the campus is closing
after the start of a business day
