This program prepares graduates for entry-level positions in various segments of the construction industry. Students will be prepared to enter the commercial or residential fields of construction, with duties such as building layout, preparation of material quotations, material ordering, estimating and tracking costs, and managing of construction projects. Building and construction technicians find employment with residential builders, architectural firms, contractors, and suppliers of construction materials. The students’ knowledge of the construction industry combined with CAD and layout skills will have prepared the student for a entry level position in retail sales on layout, planning, and installation of kitchens and baths.
Working with the students knowledge of the construction process the student is prepared to conduct material takeoffs for retail sales or cost estimating related to material and labor for residential and commercial construction projects.
The students construction experience coupled with the degree credential make the student a more desirable candidate in a municipal building and enforcement department as a code administrator or inspector.
The students’ knowledge of the construction industry along with the degree credential and on the job experience qualifies the student to perform as a construction supervisor or project manager.
