MCC Lady Bears Softball shows continuous improvement through dedication and determination.
The 2017 Mott CC softball team finished second in the MCCAA-East with a 21-7 record and completed the season with a 34-13 overall record. The Lady Bears placed second at the Region 12 tournament, losing on the final day to narrowly miss going to Nationals for a second straight year. Only six players from that team will return for the 2018 season, but their talent along with a strong incoming freshman class should give Mott a chance to win its fourth league title in the last seven years.
The Bears earned numerous athletic and academic awards this season. They were named a NJCAA All-Academic team with eight players earning individual Academic All American honors. Sophomore shortstop Kayla Ward was named NJCAA Third Team All American for 2016. She was also named to the NJCAA Region XII First Team along with freshman pitcher Amariah Wright. Kayla Ward, outfielder Stephanie Jurgess, and pitcher Hunter Conzelmann were named to the NJCAA District J All-Tournament Team while Amariah Wright was named the NJCAA District J MVP.
The Lady Bears are looking to win their spot back in the 2017 National Tournament. Eight returning players will lead a new team overflowing with talent. Go Bears!
