Maureen Smith – Faculty - Counseling

Hello! My name is Maureen Smith. I am a Counselor and instructor at Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan. I also teach for Rochester University in the Early Childhood Studies and Psychology programs. I previously worked for the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs for 25 years.

I have a Master of Arts in Counseling degree and a Master of Science in Human Services degree with a specialization in Social Work and Community Services, and a Post-Graduate Certification in Diversity Studies. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE).

I am proud to be a nerd, as defined by the Urban Dictionary:
Nerd
An individual who:
1. Enjoys learning
2. Does not adhere to social norms

I have three grown offspring, three perfect grandchildren and my own little herd of wiener dogs. I generally work on the weekends but I try to spend time with my grandbabies and my wieners as I can! I also enjoy mass quantities of Disney and superhero movies whenever I’m able to hide away in my batcave for a little while.
