2016-2017 Special Events
This year marks this event's 11th year for The Foundation! The event will be held on May 18 and 19, 2017. It's 24K magic!
On April 25th Students had the opportunity to give back to MCC. For giving any $ amount, students received a donut. Members of the Alumni Association Board gave out the donuts (sponsored by the Bear Bistro) while offering information on the organization's role and available! scholarships through The Foundation for MCC.
Every year the Women In Education Initiative (WIE) honors its graduating Fellows. This year the event was held on April 20th at Applewood Cafe. Congratulations, graduates!
On April 12th donors had the opportunity to meet students they have helped through scholarships and funds at The Foundation for MCC.
On April 7th Dr. Bill Pickard discussed entrepreneurship with MCC students, providing tips and encouragement for their future endeavors. Author of "Millionaire Moves: Seven Proven Principles of Entrepreneurship," Dr. Pickard gave out free autographed books to the first 50 students who attended. He is a significant supporter of the college.
Beginning April 1, Alumni Association's monthly student contest to "Find Roary the Bear" began. Each month students have the opportunity to find Roary hidden on campus, take a selfie, and submit his location (and selfie). Correct answers are put in a hat for an end-of-the-month drawing and the winner receives a gift card.
A Tribute to the Life & Legacy of Lenore Croudy, our Lifetime Friend, was held on March 30th at the Genesys Conference & Banquet Center. The community came together to celebrate Lenore's service to MCC, the Flint and Genesee County area, the State of Michigan, the nation and beyond. Proceeds from the event will go toward naming a building on MCC's main campus, "The Lenore Croudy Family Life Center." Lenore passed on January 19, 2017, after decades of service on the Mott Community College Board of Trustees.
MCC Night at The Palace was held on March 9th in the exclusive Club 300. Pistons played the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Current Students joined in by submitting possible names for the wooden bear created by the FABLAB at the request of the Alumni Association. A fun way to engage students!
Area alumni became Welcome Ambassadors on campus during the first week of the winter semester. They assisted students as they moved about the campus and our satellite locations, helping with directions and handing out USB chargers from the Alumni Association.
The Foundation for MCC along with the Alumni Association and Women In Education held informational booths and provided the opportunity for students to play the game “Cash Cube.”
On August 6, 2016, the C. S. Mott Statue was unveiled. Back to the Bricks (BttB) and The Foundation for MCC began this project in 2015 and, with funding from major sponsors and donors, the statue was commissioned in early 2016. BttB and the MCC Alumni Association hosted a Classic Car Cruise-In the same day in honor of Mr. Mott and this momentous occasion.
L-R: Joe Rundell (Sculptor), Al Hatch (Back to the Bricks Chair), Dr Beverly Walker-Griffea (MCC President), and Ridgway White (C. S. Mott Foundation President). Not seen but participating in this photo is Dr. Karen Williams Weaver (City of Flint Mayor).
