MCC Corporate Services taking training “on the road”

Mott Community College’s (MCC) Workforce Development & Economic Development division is taking its Corporate Services training program “on the road.” Literally. The Corporate Services group will conduct a team building training exercise for John Deere Corp. in Dubuque, Iowa, for 15 engineering staff members Jan. 3 through 5, 2018.

“This is first time we have conducted a training program out of state,” said Robert Matthews, Associate Vice President of Workforce & Economic Development. “We are very pleased to be able to provide training services for a large corporation such as John Deere, and look forward to offering this and similar training opportunities to other companies,” he added.

The John Deere Corporation choose the College’s Factory Five Build School as a team building activity based on the recommendation of one of their employees. Factory Five is a hands-on workshop for car lovers who have always dreamed of building their own car. In a period of three days, class participants build a Mark IV Roadster, '33 Hotrod, or "818" kit car from frame to finished vehicle, and learn about state-of-the-art performance car design, engineering and assembly. A team of industry professionals including automotive technology instructors, experienced mechanics, and hard-core racing enthusiasts conduct each class.

MCC is home to the only official Factory Five Build School in the country.

MCC Corporate Services offers customized training and consultant services for businesses or organizations interested in updating the skill sets of their current workforce or seeking new employees with up-to-date skills.

Course offerings include everything from ABB Programming and American Sign Language, to Blueprint Reading, EPA Refrigerant Handling, Statistical Process Controls, and Welding. More information and a complete list of course offerings can be found at
