Mott Community College is preparing to join the Gift of Life Michigan Campus Challenge. Mott is not only the first school in the state to sign up for the 2019 life-saving event, but representatives are already making plans to win the Campus Challenge trophy!

“We are happy to be a part of this worthwhile endeavor. Our students, faculty and staff have shown time and time again a high level of altruism and commitment to community, and I know they will continue that tradition with the Gift of Life Challenge.” said Alexandria Dowdall, Interim Student Life Coordinator for MCC.

More than a dozen Michigan colleges and universities participate in the Campus Challenge each year, competing to see which school can sign up the most people to the Michigan Organ Donor Registry. Students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to show their support by identifying their favorite school as the inspiration for their donor registration, scoring a point for that school.

The 2019 Gift of Life Michigan Campus Challenge will be held Jan. 16 through Feb. 20, 2019.
Participating schools will encourage students, alumni and other supporters to sign up through social media, poster displays, at tables in student unions and at athletic events. Scores are shown in real time on Gift of Life Michigan’s website, golm.org. At the end of the five-week competition, awards will be presented to the school with the most donor registrations and to the school with the most registrations compared with student population.

“We are thrilled to have the participation and support of Mott Community College in this year’s Campus Challenge,” said Dorrie Dils, CEO of Gift of Life Michigan. “Students bring incredible energy and enthusiasm to the event each year, and we know Mott’s students will shine in the competition.”

The Gift of Life Campus Challenge is one of the most successful organ donation college outreach programs in the nation and has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services for its exceptional results. Since its inception in 2004, the competition has inspired more than 41,000 people to join the state’s Donor Registry.
