Mott Community College’s President, Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, was honored with an Award of Excellence at the Genesee District Library’s 18th Annual Black History Month Brunch Feb. 2.

In addition to Dr. Beverly, Awards of Excellence were presented to 1st District County Commissioner Bryant Nolden, and 2005 Greater Flint Afro-American Hall of Fame inductee Clifton Turner.

The Genesee District Library also gave its Partner in Progress Award to St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center, which provides life skills, education and workplace training to empower women and men to become self-sufficient.

The awards are part of an ongoing tradition for Genesee District Library to highlight people who work to make positive changes in the community.
