The Gun Show to be performed at MCC Feb. 18

Mott Community College (MCC) Fine Arts and Social Sciences Department will cosponsor a performance of The Gun Show, an award-winning play by E. M. Lewis, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Mott Memorial Building on the main campus in Flint. Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit the Michigan Coalition Against Gun Violence. The performance will be followed by a question and answer session.
The Gun Show is a non-partisan play about guns. It tells the story of America’s relationship with guns through the prism of the playwright’s personal experiences. From a farming community in rural Oregon to the big cities of Los Angeles and New York, an actor shares Ms. Lewis’s unique perspective and true stories about America’s most dangerous pastime as if they were his or her own, with brutal honesty and poignant humor.
Leaning neither right nor left, The Gun Show jumps into the middle of the gun control debate and asks, “Can we have a conversation about this?” The MCC performance is directed by Rob Roznowski, head of acting and directing at Michigan State University.
The play is co-sponsored by MCC, the Michigan Coalition to prevent Gun Violence, the Meta Peace Team, Michigan Unitarian Universalist Justice Network, Pax Christi Michigan, and Peace Action of Michigan.
