MCC Fine Arts Gallery to exhibit ceramic work by Lisa Truax


The Mott Community College Fine Arts Gallery will present an exhibition of Ceramics by Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Associate Professor Lisa Truax titled Organic Cartography. Her work will be in the gallery from Monday, Feb. 24 through Friday, March 6. In addition, Truax will give a talk about her work on Thursday, March 5 at 1 p.m. in the Visual Arts and Design Center, room 129. The public is invited.

Lisa Truax is currently Associate Professor in the Art and Design Department, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, where she has taught Ceramics, Sculpture, Photography, Two and Three Dimensional Foundations, Web Design and Graphic Design, among several other courses. She received a MFA in Ceramics, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan and a BA in Studio Art, BA in Graphic Design, Business Administration minor, Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Her many exhibitions include: Organic Cartography, Riverland Community College, Austin, Minnesota, Response: Climate + Clay, Three person invitational exhibition, American Swedish Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Lisa Truax, Red Rock Center for the Arts, Fairmont, Minnesota.

The Fine Arts Gallery is located in room 128 of the Visual Arts and Design Center on Mott Community College’s main campus in Flint, at 1401 E. Court St. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The exhibitions and presentations are free and open to the public.
