National Society of Leadership & Success
Sigma Alpha Pi - Σ Α Π
The Mott Community College Chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success is constantly striving to serve our community and college. We enable our members to become the kind of leader they want to be, we form long-lasting friendships, do service projects, fundraise, and have fun!
Past members have gone on to attend film school in NYC, intern in college marketing offices, intern in political offices in Lansing, graduate from MSU, intern for minor softball/baseball teams and more. We have partnered with Pack Your Back to facilitate educational sessions for a high school leadership conference. The Chapter co-hosted a Gift of Life event and signed up 45 new donors! We've attended leadership summits at GVSU and Baker College, as well as the Southeast Regional NSLS Conference this September. Our Chapter GPA is 3.61.
Our current members are earning experience and helping people e very day. Our Advanced Leadership Chair earned the Paul Karr Award (best citizen of the class) and spoke at Commencement, won the NSLS Living Leadership Award, was the first in our Chapter to complete the Advanced and Executive Leadership Programs and she also coordinated a service project to clean and organize a Foster Closet. A group of members created an Inclusion Committee and hosted an event with speaker Jeffrey Marsh and a panel of students/faculty/community to discuss race/ethnicity, gender/sexuality and disability/mental illness. One of our Co-Presidents won the Commitment to Service Award for her work on the Inclusion Event. We have raised money and donations for the Pixel and Luna Resource Center and hosted card signings for deployed Veterans. One of our Co-Presidents has had her short film chosen to be made by the MAET Program over the summer. Our members attend MCC Board of Trustees dinners and MCC President luncheons. Our Advisors have been chosen for the National Advisory Board, hosted an Advisor Webinar on how we! build our brand and will be hosting an educational session at the Southeast Leadership Summit.
We run a membership at the Thumb Correctional Facility with 3 members that were inducted in the Fall Semester earning their National Engaged Leader Award and 7 members being inducted in the Winter Semester. We are very proud of these individuals and they have changed our lives as much as we have changed theirs!
