How the process works

For company-requested testing,

  • the employer submits the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) that applies to the required work.
  • MCC reviews the WPS to verify that it contains the information necessary to conduct the requested qualification test before testing is scheduled.
  • Individual welders may contact MCC to discuss their qualification goals and determine the applicable WPS, code requirements, and available testing options.

All testing is performed in accordance with the reviewed WPS and applicable requirements.

What companies and individuals can accomplish:

  • Verify welding skills for specific job assignments or employment opportunities
  • Qualify prospective hires, current employees, or individual welders
  • Conduct testing in a consistent, controlled environment
  • Receive reliable test results and supporting documentation
  • Access MCC's welding facilities, equipment, and qualified testing personnel

MCC's AWS Accredited Test Facility provides companies and individual welders with an objective and dependable way to evaluate welding performance and document qualifications. Companies and individual welders may contact Mott Community College for information about available welding processes, test positions, WPS and code requirements, scheduling, and fees.
