The Honors College rewards academic achievement with a partial-tuition scholarship and special recognition such as the Honors College Diploma and Honors Medallion at graduation. Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society recognizes the academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Trustees' Leadership Scholarship grants two years of free tuition to one graduating senior from each high school within the college district. The MCC Honors College rewards academic achievement with a partial-tuition scholarship and additional, special recognition including the Honors College diploma and medallion upon graduation. Honors College students are also offered opportunities for academic, social and cultural enrichment.
Honors College students enrolled in honors courses are eligible for the Honors College Partial Tuition Scholarship. This is an academic merit scholarship that does not require proof of financial need. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. New students are asked to sign an Honors College Contract and a Photo Waiver & Release form. Honors Colleges staff signatures are required to enroll in honors sections and to apply for the Honors College Scholarship.

No. A letter from the Dean of your academic program or major is sent to any student carrying 12 credits with a 3.5 GPA in a given semester. Although many students receive these Dean's List letters, you must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA to be eligible for the Honors College.

No. Once you have been accepted into the Honors College, your application and letters of recommendation remain on file. However, you must apply for the Honors College Partial-Tuition Scholarship each semester that you plan to take honors courses. See Scholarship details.
Honors College graduates, and early transfer students, as well as their families and friends are invited to the annual Honors Graduation Dinner and Medallion ceremony in late April or early May.
You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits for Fall or Winter Semester in order to receive the Honors College Scholarship and other benefits of membership in the program.
The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize the academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. Alpha Omicron Iota is the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Mott Community College. It was founded on April 10, 1989 by Dr. Gail Knapp.

Since 1923, Mott Community College has offered quality education to the residents of Genesee County and surrounding communities. Each year, the college presents a Trustees' Leadership Scholarship award to one graduating senior from each high school within the college district. Each “Trustee Scholar” receives up to two years free tuition and fees to attend Mott Community College.

Eligible students are invited to apply between February 1 and May 1 of the year of award.
The Honors College, Phi Beta Kappa, and the Trustees’ Leadership Scholarship are not the only academic recognitions offered to students at Mott Community College. MCC students are also eligible for the Dean’s List, the Graduation with Honors Distinction, and the Graduate Honor Reception (including the Paul Karr Award and the Phil Braun Award).

Upon graduation, students who have maintained a cumulative 3.0 – 4.0 GPA will receive one of the following notations on their Associates Degree transcript:
Additionally, students with the Honors Distinction will receive Honor Cords to be worn at commencement.
Finally, eligible graduates who have maintained a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher will be invited to a college-wide Graduate Honors Reception each spring. Qualifying students receive an invitation from the Office of the Student Academic Success Vice President. Graduates will receive their honors pins and those earning an Associate degree with a 4.0 GPA along with the Paul Karr and Phil Braun award winners will be recognized during the ceremony.
The Paul Karr Award is awarded each year to the graduate chosen to represent the class as its best citizen on the basis of scholarship based on number of credits and GPA, character and service. This honor is noted on the student’s permanent record.
