Volunteers Needed

In order to provide food for members of the MCC community who use the Mott Eats food pantry on a daily basis we are recruiting volunteers for the following areas:

  • Drivers who are willing to have pre-packaged bags of food placed in their vehicle trunks for delivery to MCC students, employees, and their families. Drivers will drop the food at the door to eliminate face to face contact.
  • Individuals who are willing to come to our staging area to help with the sorting, bagging, and loading of food for drivers to deliver.

In order to follow appropriate social distancing guidelines and to keep volunteers and others safe we will be functioning out of the loading dock area in the back of the Mott Memorial Building (MMB) off of Lot F (at Horrigan Drive and Court Street).

If you are able to volunteer please sign up on this Google Sheet. You will be contacted by phone to confirm the date and time you have agreed to volunteer.

If you have any questions or need further information please call Dinah Schaller, Lead Social Worker for the Lenore Croudy Family Life Center, at (810) 235-5257 or email at dinah.schaller@mcc.edu

The Mott Community College food pantry, Mott Eats, is a direct response to the need among the Individuals who are willing to come to our staging area to help with the sorting, bagging, and loading of food for drivers to deliver.student population for more resources to fight food insecurity. With rising living expenses and the external demands on students, it has become increasingly difficult for students to juggle the costs of living with the costs of obtaining a higher education degree, and thus many students are finding themselves choosing between essentials such as food and the costs of college.

Mott Eats was established to provide emergency relief to help students at Mott Community College. And this effort, is one facet of a multi-faceted approach to combating food insecurity on campus.
