Faculty, you can help support students in your classes.

Faculty see students regularly and are in direct contact with them. A student might tell you they are experiencing a barrier, or it may show up through missed classes or incomplete assignments. By using the Early Alert system in MyCompass, you can ensure that someone reaches out to the student to provide support and guidance.

Faculty and staff can raise an academic flag for a student if there are concerns about the student’s ability to be successful in class. Examples include when a student is not attending class or is in danger of failing. After a flag is raised, it will be assigned to the appropriate person for follow-up. If it is determined that additional student support or other resources are needed, the student will receive an additional layer of support from their assigned Success Coach. Anyone who works at MCC can also make a referral for a student to meet with a Success Coach. This type of referral is designed to provide wraparound support and services that are non-academic in nature.
