All Mott Community College student employees are bound by, but not limited to, the following College policies and governed by the Student Code of Conduct.

Mott Community College has a special responsibility to the community to promote equal access and success for minority students. The College has established a Minority Education Initiative to help achieve harmony among all racial groups. The academic community has an obligation to serve as an important model in helping to end discrimination.
These issues are complex, but we must approach them directly and take the steps to cultivate a suitable climate for our minority students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Mott Community College shall ensure full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act which states that there shall be no discrimination in employment against a qualified individual with a disability in the terms and conditions of employment. Additionally, the student employment program is obligated to permit an injured or ill student employee to return to work with a doctor's permission.
Mott Community College is committed to providing a campus environment free of the abuse and illegal use of alcohol and other drugs. In addition, MCC is required by the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989 to adopt and implement a program to prevent the illicit use of drugs and the abuse of alcohol by students and employees.
The possession or distribution of elicit drugs and/or the unlawful use of alcohol by students on MCC property or as part of a college activity is specifically prohibited by MCC policies.
There are legal sanctions under state and federal law for the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol. A violation under state law may result in a misdemeanor or felony conviction, depending on the nature of the offense, punishable by imprisonment, payment of fines, confiscation of real and personal property, or a combination of the three.
The College Health Services Office coordinates a seminar on substance abuse prevention for all students and staff. For more information about the seminars, call (810) 762-0333. MCC encourages students with alcohol or other drug dependency problems to use the services of Counseling and Student Development or to seek assistance from a community agency that provides substance abuse services. Health (and other) risks associated with the use of alcohol and other drugs include, but are not limited to: impaired academic or work performance; lost potential; absenteeism from class or work; financial problems; doing things one later regrets; conflicts with co-workers, families, friends, and others; unusual or inappropriate risk-taking which may result in physical or emotional injury, or death; blackouts; hangovers; long-term health problems including cirrhosis of the liver, organic brain damage, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
MCC will impose sanctions for violation of policies and procedures consistent with state and federal law and with applicable Student Code of Conduct provisions and college policies. Violations will result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from college, and referral for prosecution. Sanctions imposed will depend upon the severity and frequency of the violation. In addition to, or in lieu of, discipline, violators may be required to complete an appropriate rehabilitation program. Mott Community College is committed to maintaining an environment for employees and students free of unwanted objectionable and disrespectful conduct, and communication of a sexual nature, especially when such conduct is imposed by one on another and adversely affects a staff member’s employment and a student’s learning experience. Sexual harassment is a barrier to an environment which is conducive to academic achievement and productive employment. Employees and students have the right to raise the issue of harassment, and are protected by this policy and attendant college codes and procedures for enforcement. Sexual harassment is a grievous action having serious and far-reaching effects on the careers and lives of individuals. False accusations can have similar impact; thus, the charge of sexual harassment is a serious and emotional one and is not to be taken lightly by a charging party, a respondent, or any other member of the college community. This policy shall apply to all persons in the college community. For the purposes of this policy statement, the term college community shall be defined as Mott Community College students, faculty, administrators and all other employees. This sexual harassment policy will be part of the Board of Trustees’ governing policy for Mott Community College and will be published in the policy and procedure manual. This section on sexual harassment will also be published in the student, faculty and staff handbooks. All MCC student employees must successfully complete an online Sexual Harassment Prevention Training tutorial. This training must be taken within the first two weeks of beginning employment. The Preventing Sexual Harassment training course is accessible through the link on the Student Employment Center website. At the conclusion of the tutorial, students will be required to complete a mastery test with a passing score. Upon successful completion, students must print off the Certificate of Completion and bring it to the Student Employment Center in PCC 2280.
All Mott Community College regulations shall be construed so as not to abridge any student’s constitutional rights which include, but are not limited to, the rights of free expression of thought or opinion, free association, peaceable assembly, or the petition of authorities.
Any student who commits any of the following acts of misconduct shall be subject to disciplinary action by the college. These regulations shall apply only where a student’s misconduct has adversely affected some college process or function or some other distinct and clear interest of the college as an academic community. College disciplinary proceedings may be instituted against a student charged with violation of a law which is also a violation of the Student Code of Conduct. For example, if both violations result from the same factual situation, without regard to the pendency of civil litigation in court or criminal arrest and prosecution, proceedings under the Student Code of Conduct may be carried out prior to, simultaneously with, or following civil or criminal proceedings off-campus.Acts Of Prohibited Conduct Include, But Not Limited To, The Following:
