What is Michigan Reconnect?

Michigan Reconnect is a state scholarship that will help pay the in-district costs of tuition or training for Michiganders age 25 years or older, who have a High School Diploma or GED and want to pursue a certificate or associate degree, either full-time or part-time. Michigan Reconnect pays the remaining balance of in-district tuition and mandatory fees after other state and federal financial aid have been applied.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be at least 25 years old when you apply
  • Be a Michigan resident for at least 1 year prior to application (U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen)
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., a GED)
  • Have not yet earned an associate or bachelor's degree

Future for Frontliners and Reconnect Helpful tips:

  • FAFSA is required each year
  • You must be in a minimum of six credit hours
  • In one program of study
  • 2.0 GPA or higher is required while in the program
  • In-District rate and mandatory fees only
  • Funds are estimated until the semester starts
  • Award Payout: Future for Frontliners (Pell/F4F/TIP), Reconnect (Pell, TIP Reconnect), both programs are last dollar
  • Enrolled in at least 2 semesters within their 12-month period

Dropped Courses:

  • Future for Frontliners:

    • 1st 12-months, the scholarship will cover the tuition.
    • 2nd semester & 2nd 12-month period and on, all withdrawn course costs after the "add/drop" period are to be covered by the student.
  • Mi Reconnect:

    • 1st 12-months, the scholarship will cover the tuition.
    • 2nd semester & 2nd 12-month period and on, all withdrawn course costs after the "add/drop" period are to be covered by the student.
    • Scholarship Maximum Timeframe: 4 years or completion of Associates
    • Programs does not cover books or allow for a student to be issued a refund
